ABOUT MY MICHIGAN ROOTS:  My name is Robin Suomi and I am the founder of Startup to Growth, LLC. I am also the creator of this online course, which grew out of my work with thousands of small businesses throughout my career.  I grew up in Mid-West Michigan (we used to call it Ionia – as in the Home of the Ionia Free Fair!). Life in Michigan was an adventure, from shopping in “GR” on 28th Street to school trips to John Ball Zoo and Kellogg’s and the local newspaper.  I remember the businesses in Michigan that impacted me growing up, from big companies like Meijers, Steelcase and Gordon Food Service, to the many furniture stores and small mom and pop businesses I frequented. I never dreamed I would grow up and help small businesses in many of those same industries (yes, I have even helped a zoo!!).  What a solid small business education Michigan afforded me. I went on to teach Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management and Business 101 courses as an adjunct professor.
